Glenis Bertfield

I left school at the age of 16. After school I completed a secretarial course and worked as a secretary and personal assistant until I married Lawrence at the age of 20. I have had a varied professional career, together Lawrence and I ran a retail business for 40 years in Manchester where we have lived all our lives. I also ran a property business and ten years ago I did a course in Reflexology which I thoroughly enjoyed. When we moved to Israel we both retired. I made Aliya 18 months ago with my husband and we live in Raanana. We are having a wonderful life and have met many interesting people who have now become our very good friends. ESRA has been a great way to meet people and we love all the wonderful projects that occur on a weekly basis. We go on the monthly walks with Jack Rabinowitz and through ESRA we teach English every week. We start every day smiling with the children, that are part of "the walking bus" and we walk them every morning to Ariel school. This project is run by Ariel school in conjunction with the iria. We also work at Beit Issie Shapiro on a number of projects which is very satisfying. The best part of living in Raanana is that our daughter her husband and our four wonderful grandchildren live just one street away.We also have a son and daughter in law living in Brooklyn, New York and three adorable grandchildren. My mother Netta Green also made Aliya at the age of 86.
